First American Edition. Hardcover. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Very Good in a Near Fine dust jacket. 322 pp, extensively illlustrated with color and black-and-white photographs. Translated by Jill Neate and Audrey Salkeld. Spine is slanted; otherwise minimal wear. Dust jacket is price-clipped. Messner provides an account of climbing Everest alone and without the use of oxygen, as well as a description of his journey through Tibet and his emotional reaction to the country's snow peaks, ruined monasteries, and yak caravans.
