First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. 306 pp, illustrated. 7.25 inches, in original blue cloth with white lettering and balloon illustration. No dust jacket. Mild soiling to front boards, staining to top edge, rubbing/bumping to corners. Binding tight, contents unmarked and bright. First American edition; published in French the previous year. Contains a biography of Andree, description of the balloon, account of preparations in 1896 and 1897 and ascension and crash of the balloon (Arctic Bibliography 9534, 9536).
