Binding sound, text unmarked. The author was an active evangelist who preached to a mixed crowd while on a tour of America with her husband, Henry Grattan Guinness, a member of the famous Irish brewing family. Together the two founded the East London Institute for Home and Foreign Missions, a training school for lay missionaries, 1872. Here she offers a useful and well illustrated historical survey of missionary endeavor in central Africa.
