Text of an address to the New Jersey Historical Society, Newark, May 18th, 1882. 11 pp, in original sewn wrappers, with a nice engraved frontispiece portrait of White, which is printed on heavier stock. Chip to one corner of front wrapper, repaired closed tear to the back wrapper, some offsetting from portrait to title page. Provides a brief family history, followed by an account of major events in the life of White, who was commissioned a major and aide-de-camp to George Washington in 1775 and was actively engaged in service until 1780, during which time he received several promotions. He died penniless after having secured for the debts of the officers and men of his regiments, many of whom were "in want of almost all the necessaries of life."
