Chicago: Metcalf Stationery Company, 1893.

First Edition. 16 pp, in original stapled wrappers. Delicate condition, with a 1/4 x 1.5 inch chip missing from all pages in the volume (not affecting text), and an additional chip to the front wrapper. A scarce and detailed guide to the many features of the Moorish Palace at the 1893 Chicago World's Fair. These included a palm garden "enhanced by groups of Arabs," a replica of the Alhambra, a harem, a labyrinth, a cave, a "monster kaleidoscope," and an extensive wax museum. The guide describes 60 figures and scenes appearing in the museum, among them the Lincoln assasintation, the fountain of youth, Christ and the Samartian, Martin Luther, Sleeping Beauty, Shakespeare, Mozart, Queen Victoria, Pope Leo XIII, Napoleon, and George Washington. A separate room contained a diorama of the execution of Marie Antoinette, which used the actual scaffold and guillotine that did the deed.
