Sheldon describes the book in his preface as "a tale of hunting, during rain and storm, for special animals," and an attempt "to reproduce an exact picture of the experiences of a hunter in the wilderness of the large islands visited." Includes chapters on bear hunting on Montague and Admiralty Islands, Alaska, and has appendices on the identification and habits of the Montague Island bear.
