[Philadelphia]: John Dunlap, by Order of Congress, .
First Edition. Hardcover. Very good. 8vp. pp 257, xliii (index). An unrestored copy in original paper-covered boards. Number "6" written on spine, bookplate of The Pilgrim Society (founded in 1820) on front free endpaper; joints cracked, with small loss at base of spine, but boards still quite secure, pages very clean and partially unopened. Very good. Evans 20079. Although designated as "Volume VI," this seems to have been the only volume published under this title. It is an abridgement of the full congressional journal for 1780 (which was Volume 6 of the full set covering 1777-1788) and includes much important content relating to the Revolutionary War, including the trial of Major Andre, who was hanged as a spy in October 1780, and the complete text of the Treaty of Amity and Commerce and the Treaty of Alliance with France.
