Original blue paper-covered front board, spine and rear board skillfully replaced to match, with new paper label on spine. Internals sound and clean. Abbey Travel 280. Hutton made four trips to the Gold Coast over the course of eleven years, and this account offered much new information from the observations he made regarding the features of the land, navigability of rivers, the people, natural resources and commercial opportunities, and the political environment (particularly British relations with the Kingdom of Ashantee). The maps are "North and South West Africa, Showing the Course of the Niger and Principal Rivers" and "Route of the Mission to Ashantee in 1820."
