Undated, but 1890s. 64 pp, 6 x 9 inches, oblong, in color pictorial wrappers showing a domestic scene in which the (presumed) lady of the house is holding a copy of this very catalogue. A good copy with some foxing and soiling throughout, early owner's name on first page, minor chipping to front wrapper. The Osborne Company manufactured harvesters, mowers, harrows, cultivators, and other farm machinery and equipment. This well-illustrated catalogue certainly advertises their products, but, as noted in the Preface, "in furnishing you this issue have sacrificed a large part of the book usually given to the description of our machines to what we term 'valuable information for house and farm." This includes an article on how to build a silo, tables of weights and measures of use for farming and construction, advice on raising poultry and on the care of horses and harnesses, and 12 pages of recipes for cakes, puddings, pies, waffles, doughnuts, and a range of main dishes from codfish balls to rabbit pie.
