Hardcover. Very good. Accordion-folded album containing nine original albumen photographs of Madeira, including a four-panel panorama of Funchal. Images measure 6.5 "x 9" and are backed with linen; red cloth album measures 6.75" x 9.5" (oblong). Some fraying to boards, final photograph creased at the edge; all else very good. Undated, but likely 1880s. In addition to the panorama, there is a photograph of a couple in an ox-drawn seldge (a common mode of transport on the island) and another of two finely dressed women, one of whom is sitting in a litter that will be carried by hand. Another shows Funchal Bay with several three-masted ships in harbor. Madeira became a popular destination for European tourists in the mid-19th century.
