Hardcover. Very good. 8vo, pp.xvi, 156 + index. Contemporary full calf, with title in gilt on red spine label, additional old label (reading "O.A. Wells, Fond du Lac") on spine. Evidence of small bookplate removed from front pastedown, title page clipped at upper corner, otherwise very clean, binding tight. First edition in English of this important work by seventeenth-century Italian lawyer Francesco Rocco (1605-1676). Although first published in Latin as early as 1655, it was still highly regarded in the early nineteenth century. J.G.
