Smithsonian Miscellaneous Collections Volume 92, Number 4. Father Jeronimo Boscana's "Chinigchinich," written in Spanish in 1822 and first published in English in 1846, was the first detailed description of a group of California Indians. This is Harrington's own translation of Boscana's original and differs significantly from the Robinson translation, which was published by the Fine Arts Press in 1933 (with annotations by Harrington) and reprinted by the Malki Press in 1978.
