Boston: Houghton Mifflin, 1917-1924.
Hardcover. Near fine. Complete set of 10 volumes, uniformly bound in 3/4 leather and marbled boards, with marbled endpapers, top edges gilt, and lovely gilt tree decoration on spines. Some uneven darkening/staining (of unknown origin) to spines, but still quite attractive and otherwise a fine set. This uncommon binding is not noted in Kimes, but in other details matches Kimes #363. An earlier (1917-18) Sierra Edition consisted of 8 volumes and did not include the two-volume Life and Letters present here. Includes the same text as the manuscript edition and 341 half-tone plates. Likely sold only by subscription. Inclues The Story of My Boyhood and Youth, A Thousand Mile Walk to the Gulf, My First Summer in the Sierra, Travels in Alaska, The Mountains of California, Our National Parks,"The Cruise of the Corwin, Steep Trails, and The Life and Letters of John Muir (by William Frederic Bade).
