Geneve: Henri-Albert Goss & Comp. 1759.
First Edition. Hardcover. Very good. 12mo, 141 pp + 14 plates (on which are printed a total of 49 engraved figures), in contemporary paste paper boards. The word "gherminella" (slight of hand) is written on the front pastedown, along with what is likely an old bookseller's price; there is some uneven toning to the pages, old dampstain at margins of the last ca. 15 text leaves, and predictable wear to the boards, but overall a very good copy, clean and sound. Often cited as the first magic book published in Switzerland, the book illustrates the cups and balls and various rope tricks and gives instructions for effects and diversions with cards, knives, paper, eggs, coins, etc. All text in French.
