First Edition. Hardcover. Good. Title continues: With reminiscences of the past, including some notes of important cases. 167 pp + 54 pages of ads, illustrated with photographs and many portraits. Original green cloth with gilt spine lettering. Boards show old insect damage. Binding a little loose but essentially sound, text clean. Ink stamp of Francis H. Parker on verso of frontispiece. In addition to a fairly straightforward history of the development of policing in Hartford, there are accounts of particularly dangerous or cunning criminals, heroic deeds, celebrated trials, judges and the Police Court, etc. Also many interesting local advertisements.
