New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1932.
First Edition. Hardcover. Near fine. Number 392 of a limited edition of 500 copies, each signed by Maier-Krieg on the colophon. 8 pp (text, by Armitage) + 40 leaves of plates, including a short biography of Maier-Krieg at the end. Frontis photographic portrait of the artist by Brett Weston. Cloth-backed burlap boards; no dust jacket. One small stain on back cover, else a fine copy. Maier-Krieg was born and educated in Germany, but moved to Southern California in 1924, when he was in his late twenties. His primary medium was sculpture, and Armitage is particularly complimentary of his portraiture.
