Lindsay, CA: Hall & Burr, 1929.
Hardcover. Very good. 8vo, 271 pp, in original green textured cloth (faux leather) boards. Stamp of Tienken Drug Co. of Lindsay, California on endpapers and at least one interior page, a few pages with small stains or smudges, otherwise unmarked, clean and sound. Promoting the small city of Lindsay (incorporated in 1910) as the "Central California Citrus Center," as well as a prime location for growing olives, grapes, plums, and cateloupes, this book includes an alphabetical listing of "lands improved to fruit growing and the growers thereof" and approximately 70 single-page plat maps indicating land ownership and crops under cultivation. It also includes an index the reader could used to look up growers by fruit crop, a folding "Road and Key Map" tipped in at rear pastedown, and many pages of advertising -- some printed in two colors. Advertisers include sellers of agricultural and refrigeration equipment, fertilizer, building materials, and pest control productions; banks, trucking and storage companies, and fruit co-ops and distributors.
