Habana: Imprenta Avisador Comercial, 1912.
Softcover. Good. Thick tri-fold booklet, 90 pp + 4 unnumbered advertising leaves printed on pink and blue coated stock. 4.5" x 10", stapled. A good copy, with moderate handling wear, some pages loose from staples, stain on front cover. Internals clean. Although it does contain basic information for tourists (history, climate, currency, transport, hotels, clubs, attractions, and a basic map of Havana), this is primarily an elaborate advertising piece. The first 29 pages are devoted entirely to a mouth-watering "General Catalog of the Fine Foods, Wines, and Spirits" available from the gourmet grocery at Casa Potin. There are ads for the opera and the theater, gardens, auto rentals and chauffeurs, jewelry, pianos, clothing, linens, sweet shops, mineral water, cosmetics, medicines, and even a sanitorium specializing in diseases of the stomach and intestine. A fascinating window onto the world of commerce and luxury in early twentieth-century Havana. Not recorded in OCLC.
