London, Paris, New York, and Melbourne: Cassell and Company, 1904.
Hardcover. Good. Second edition (first published 1897). 7.25 x 9.5 inches, 100 pp + publisher's ads, in original cloth-backed pictorial boards. Complete with four color plates, dozens of b/w illustrations in the text. Front board somewhat soiled and edgeworn, small chip in cloth at base of spine, binding tender but sound. Good to very good overall. The text consists of short stories and humorous verse about the anthropomorphic doings of a variety of animals, but Neilson's highly charming illustrations are what make this book memorable. Uncommon in any edition.
