Koln: Atelier Straus, 1899.
12" x 15" albumen photograph on just a slightly larger mount. A few dings to the mount, photograph very good. Signed "Atelier Straus, Koln, a/Rh., 1899." Created to celebrate the 70th birthday of August Wiese, founder of the chocolate and confectionary company Aug. Wiese & Sons, this interesting composite photograph includes images of various groups of male and female factory workers, a smaller group of managers in suits at the center, the factory at the upper left, and boiler and steam engine at the upper right. All of these pieces are set against a painted background ornamented by trees and a peek at the city of Koln in the distance.
