Bound in original blind-stamped brown cloth, skillfully rebacked, with hinges and corners neatly reinforced. Large bookplate of Guy Johnson on front pastedown, recent owner's signature on front free endpaper, early owner's signature on flyleaf. Foxing to the portrait of Livingstone and facing page, otherwise quite clean; binding sound. Czech, p. 168: "Perhaps the most famous of all African exploration books, this recounts Dr. Livingstone's travels through South Africa, with the discovery of Lake Ngami, while accompanied by his wife and William Cotton Oswell.
