Very good. Complete set of 40 cards (numbered 1-39, with 2 different #13s, as issued) in original plastic box with enclosed leaflet identifying the artist who designed each card. The cards measure ca. 2.5 x 3.25 inches. Each is illustrated in comic-book style with a scene from Jonestown on the front, while the backs form two larger illustrations when correctly laid out. Contributing artists include Raymond Pettibon, Wayne Honath, Mary Fleener, Brian James Riedel, Charles Burns, Carol Lay, Gary Panter, Savage Pencil, Jeff Gaither, Kaz, and others. A grisly but interesting set of illustrations that fairly closely follows the media depiction of the People's Temple and the events at Jonestown. The earlier cards, with captions such as "Dad [i.e., Jim Jones] is watching," "Beg Forgiveness," "Scolded and Whipped," and "Staked in Jungle," depict (a version of) life in Jonestown prior to the mass suicide. The higher numbers show the murder of Congressman Ryan, the spiking of the Kool Aid, effects of the cyanide, Jones' death by gunshot, etc.
