Softcover. Good. 6.5" x 9.5", 160 pp, with many maps and illustrations from photographs, beautiful cover art (front and back) by Randal W. Borough, who created many memorable designs for California-related posters, brochures, and magazines in the early 20th century. Both covers have Library of Congress duplicate stamps and small chips, spine paper has losses and short tears; internally sound and clean. An uncommon and highly detailed guide to fishing and hunting opportunities throughout California, described in a brief preface as "the first work of this character ever published on California's attractions for the sportsman." A full sixty pages are dedicated to trout fishing, with descriptions of numerous regions and their rivers and lakes (e.g., Tahoe Region, Feather River and Gold Lake, Yosemite Valley, Hetch Hetchy and Tuplumne Meadows, Kings and Kern Rivers Region, Los Angeles Region), specific recommendations where and how to fish, and notes on places to stay. Shorter sections cover fishing for salmon, bass, and other game fresh-water fishes, followed by information on fishing at sea. Part II, "Feather", offers detailed information for hunters of quail, grouse, ducks, geese, and shor birds, and Part III, "Fur", covers the best locations for hunting deer, bears, mountain lions. wild goats, coyotes, bighorn sheep, and a variety of small game.
