Very good. 24" x 17" engraving by Hezekiah Wright Smith (1828-1889) after a painting by Thomas Hicks (1823-1890), matted and mounted on cardboard backing (total dimensions 26.5" x 19"). Printed below image on left: Painted by T. Hicks. N. A.", and on right: "Engraved by H. Wright Smith." Dated to 1859 based on cataloged examples at the Library of Congress and Mount Vernon Museum. Scattered foxing (relatively subtle), but still a very good example, suitable for display. Washington is portrayed in military dress, standing in front of Mount Vernon with a walking stick in his right hand.
