Revista de los Documentos Relativos al llamamiento hecho al General G. Pedraza y su Regreso a la Republica Mejicana

Mejico: Imprenta de Galvan a Cargo de Mariano Arevalo, 1832.

First Edition. 32-page pamphlet bound in later quarter-cloth and paper-covered boards. Near fine, with mild dust soiling to boards. Manuel Gomez Pedraza (1789-1851) was a professional military officer who was originally a Spanish loyalist, but changed sides in 1820 to support the revolt of Agustin de Iturbide. In 1825 he became Minister of War, and in 1828 he was elected president of Mexico. However, radical supporters of his political opponent, General Vicente Guerrero, refused to accept the results of the election and rebelled, forcing Gomez Pedraza into exile. This pamphlet, signed simply "Un Labrador," condemns efforts by opponents of sitting President Anastasio Bustamante to return Gomez Pedraza to power. Those efforts succeeded at the end of 1832, when Bustamante was ousted and Gomez Pedraza returned to Mexico to serve out the final months of his presidential term. Sabin 59515.
