First Edition. Hardcover. Good. 12.5" x 9.5", 40 pp, bound in illustrated paper boards with cloth spine. No dust jacket. Boards are well-worn at the edges, one page has some soiling in the margin, three have evidence of pencil erasures. Vernon Grant (1902-1990) was much-loved illustrator best known for his whimsical gnome-like characters, particularly the Rice Krispies cereal characters "Snap," "Crackle," and "Pop." Mr. Mixie Dough, who "lives away up in the sky in a place called "Behind-The-Clouds-Town" is "not a regular man, but a little Goof" with "big fuzzy ears" and "feelers like bugs" that allow him to find his way around in the dark. The book centers around his baking a "happiness birthday cake" for the King's son, after which he is named "Sir Mixie Dough, the baker man...Royal Baker to the King."
