Offers an annotated translation of the letters written by Father Kino and to the Duchess of Aveiro, as well as those written to her by others concerning the renowned missionary of northern Mexico and southern Arizona. The Duchess was "the most generous benefactress in colonial times of the foreign missions throughout the world." The general introduction summarizes approximately 200 letters of other correspondents. All of the Spanish letters of Kino are given in translation; those in Latin are in the original.
