Dust jacket is price-clipped and lightly edgeworn. Wellman (1854-1942) was a highly successful New York trail lawyer and author of the influential book The Art of Cross Examination (1903). According to the jacket, this book "abounds in extremely useful hints, tips, and suggestions as to how a lawyer can equip himself for court work....The second half [of the book] adopts the novel and engaging method of contrasting the author's own experiences with personal chapters on the same subjects, contributed over their names, by nine of the outstanding trial lawyers of the present day."
