Signed by Grant under her name on the title page. Rittenhouse 250: "History and legens of the region around Taos by a local historian. Most useful for its reprint of the diary of artist Richard C. Kern, who was with the Fremont expedition of 1848-1849." Includes chapters on Bent's Fort, penitentes, the Texan-Santa Fe expedition, etc.
