Chicago, IL: Rand, McNally & Company, 1893.
First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. 325 pp + advertisements, with frontispiece, illustrations, gilt top edge. Light wear to boards, including some dark (and relatively unobtusive) staining to the right edge of the front board; text clean. Inscribed on on half-title "Presented to my dear friend Maj. John M. Burke as a token of love and good will by the author Alexander Majors Denver Sept 14th 1898." Only Majors' signature appears to be in his (shaky) hand. Majors was one of the founders of the Pony Express. Late in life, when he was impoverished, Cody gave him a part in Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show. The "Major" Burke to whom this book is inscribed was a publicist and press agent who managed the Wild West Show. Graff 2664; Rader 2334; Smith 6488; Howes M-232.
