Otherwise very good, with sound binding and minimal foxing. In 1812, the London Missionary Society sent Campbell to South Africa to restore good relations between the missionaries and the governor, Sir John Cradock (at which he was successful), and to survey the work of the Society. He covered over 5000 kilometers by ox-wagon, traveling where few Europeans had gone before (DNB). Mendelssohn I, 254.
