Appendix entitled "A Short Bibliographical Review of the Origin and Development of the Idea of the 'Society of Nations.'" De Kay (1872-1938) was the author of approxinately "twenty books and several plays, amassed and lost a number of fortunes, and pursued by charges of fraud for various financial deals, spent many years dodging extradition proceedings across Europe. Born in Iowa, he began his career in ranching and newspaper publishing in South Dakota, but by 1910 had achieved international business prominence as president of the Mexican National Packing Company which he had founded in 1902" (NY Public Library Website). This work addresses the changing role of women in the modern world and includes an outline of "a new system of marriage, sound in its principles and morals and in strict accord with the nature and practice of men who are at present able to have all the advantages of relations with several women at one or another period of their lives without incurring any of the responsibilities which should be inseparable from their conduct."
