Scarce World War II memoir, described on the dust jacket as "an intensely personal book which traces the author's military career from the moment he enlisted in an Oklahoma National Guard Unit during the early days of the war until the moment he fell wounded on the field of battle while our victorious armies were invading Germany, two months before the Nazi capitulation...He describes the hectic state-side training in several army camps, ranging from Texas to Fort Devens, Pine Camp, New York, and Cape Cod to Camp Pickett, Virginia" as well as his experiences in Algeria and Italy, where he witnessed on of the bloodiest and most prolonged battles of the war at Anzio.
