Issued a year before the first volume of his full translation of Camoens' Lusiads, this is Burton's translation of the episode "that is, perhaps one of the most famous in a poem famed for its beautiful episodes." It describes the murder "and the strange and awful solemnity of enthroning after her death" of Ignez de castro, the daughter of D. Pedro de Castro, Lord of Galicia.
