Hawaii Volcano Observatory, Hawaii National Park: Hawaii Volcano Research Association, 1931.
8.5 x 11 inches, 4 pp, with 5 photographic illustrations. Good. Light soiling, old folding creases, general handling wear. The Volcano Bulletin was published weekly by the Hawaii Volcano Research Association on behalf of the Volcanology section of the U.S. Geological Survey. It was intended to "promote experiemental recording of earth processes," and readers were urged to "send articles, photographs, publications, and clippings about volcano and earthquake events, instruments, and investigations, especially around the Pacific." Most of this issue is devoted to discussion of the causes of lava sinking or subsiding in Halemaumau Pit (part of Kilauea Crater). There is also report on the past week's seismic action and fuming at Kilauea. Original issues of this newsletter are surprisingly scarce.
