As conveniently explained in the Introduction, "This publication has been prepared for the express purpose of presenting in a very concise form the present state of development and the future programme of the railways in Chosen and the important function that the system performs in developing and changing the economical and social condition of the country." It includes a history of railroad construction in the country, plans for future development and their management by the South Manchuria Railway Company, social welfare programs for railroad employees, and the influence of the railroad on agriculture and various industries. The last 15 pages offer more general information of interest to the tourist, including roads and motor car service, and principal cities and places of interest. Four copies located in OCLC.
