The Student's Guide to the Diseases of Women
Philadelphia: Lindsay & Blakiston, 1879.
First Edition. Hardcover. Good. 370 pp, indexed and illustrated. Original green cloth binding, worn at corners, with fraying and a small tear at the head of the spine. Pale stainon front board, remnants of a bookseller's label or bookplate on front pastedown, and, sadly, a few pages (less than 10) with underlining in ink. Binding loosening a bit, but still sound. A good reference copy of the uncommon first edition. Galabin was a British physician who wrote extensively on obstetrics and gynaecology but is best remembered for this textbook, which went through six editions between 1879 and 1903, and his Manual of Midwifery, first published in 1886.
