First Edition. Hardcover. Good. 5 x 7 inches, 182 pp + publisher's ads (but lacking 4 pp of these). A good copy in original cloth binding, chipped at corners and spine ends. Binding loosening a bit, label of Los Angeles bookseller Zeitlin & VerBrugge on rear pastedown. Inscribed on the front free endpaper on March 4, 1911, from one bookseller and bibliophile -- Edward DeWitt Brooks -- to another, Irving Way. Edmund Gosse (1849-1928) was a prolific poet, critic, and essayist who is best remembered for his autobiographical work Father and Son (1907). On Viol and Flute was his second book. NCBEL 3:1432.
