Hardcover. Very good. First edition, one of just 100 copies issued. 109 pp + bibliography and folding map, with illustrations by Lawrence A. Patterson. Bound in quarter leather over paper-covered boards. Corners bumped, some scuffing to leather, internally clean and sound. Signed by Booth and dated August 1, 1934, on the front flyleaf, and with a tipped in letter from Seattle businessman George O. Brehm, saying "I think a lot of this book," and giving it to a friend or acquaintance with the hope that "it will fall into the hands of some collector, to whom it will mean still more than it does to me." Howes W-165: "Presents all available information on an eminent figure of the early fur-trade era, the leader, in 1836, of the first trapping expedition into California over the Sierras.
