Armorial bookplate of Henry Wakeman and bookseller's ticket (Elizabethan Bookseller, Waukegan, Illinois) on front pastedown. Front joint and paper over front hinge cracked, but sewing tight, binding sound, text clean. Toland's biography of Milton was first published in 1699. This 1761 edition was edited by Thomas Hollis, contains additional notes, and is described by Lowndes (p. 2692) as "the best edition." See also Rothschild 2438.
