Folger, Schilling & Co. Importers and Dealers in Coffees, Teas, Spices, and Manufacturers of all Kinds of Coffees, Spices, Yeast Powder, Flavoring Extracts, Etc.
San Francisco: Kane & Cook Steam Book and Job Printers, 1878.
5.75" x 4", 58 pp (some rectos blank), with four full-page illustrations showing product packaging, in color-printed wrappers. Light dampstain visible at top edge of front wrapper, otherwise very good. Rare catalogue from this predecessor to today's Folgers Coffee brand, which was founded in San Francisco in 1850 as in the Pioneer Steam Coffee and Spice Mills. In 1872, J.A. Folger bought out the other owners and renamed the company J.A. Folger & Co. In 1878 -- the year this catalogue was issued -- Folger formed a brief partnership with August Schilling. That partnership was dissolved in just three years later, and the company reverted to the J.A. Folger name. This catalogue offers green and roasted coffee beans, ground coffee, Japanese and Chinese teas, "fancy tin canisters" that "make a very attractive package from which to retail tea," whole and ground spices, and assorted flavorings. Not in Romaine, not found in OCLC.
