Very good. 15" x 13" indexed city street map issued as a promotional piece by Bekins Van & Storage, "shippers of household goods to and from eastern points at half rates. Warehouse Cor. 4th & Alameda Sts.). Very good condition, with folding creases, one small tear to right margin stabilized with archival tape. The map is undated, but evidence of its early date comes from the photographic illustration on the verso, which shows a line of horse-drawn moving vans, and from the designation on the verso of Los Angeles as "Earth's Garden Spot, Population 125,000." 1902 is the estimated date given in the catalog record from the Huntington Library, which holds the only copy we located of this edition of Bekins' map (which was updated repeatedly over the next several decades).
