Mono County

[Sacramento]: 1888.

First Edition. Softcover. Very good. Stapled pamphlet, 49 pp, with folding cross section and two other illustrations. Separate issue of a report included in the Eighth Annual Report of the State Mineralogist. A scarce geological survey of Mono County, California, containing detailed descriptions of several mining districts and tables reporting on bullion shipments and gold and silver percentages in bullion from the Bodie mines. The folding plate is titled "Vertical Cross Section through Fortuna Stopes, Bodie Mine." Includes a description of the geology and topography of the count as a whole, followed by sections on the Keith, Jordan, Mono Diggings, Homer, Tioga, Lake, Benton, and Bodie mining districts. The latter receives the most attention, as "the writer had the advantage of information gained in a residence of several years there" while serving as Superintendent of the Bodie Consolidated Mining Company. Each section names the mining companies working in the district and gives statistics on the amount and quality of ores extracted from different locations.
