Includes: Tomo I, Circunstancia histórica del viaje; Tomo II, Vol. 1 & 2: Diario general del viaje; Tomo III, Diarios y trabajos botanicos; Tomo IV, Trabajos cientificos y correspondencia de Tadeo Haenke; Tomo V: Antropología y noticias etnográficas. Volumes measure 11.5" x 9.5" and are printed on glossy stock with color illustrations and maps. All tex in Spanish. All volumes in very good or better condition, with tight bindings and no internal markings, but some light corner bumping, rubbing to dust jackets. The Malaspina Expedition was a five-year maritime scientific exploring expedition funded by the Spanish government and commanded by Italian navigator Alessandro (Alejandro) Malaspina and José de Bustamante y Guerra. Departing from Cadiz in two vessels in 1789, the party explored the coasts of south America and western North America as far north as Nootka Sound, as well as the Philippine Islands, Australia, and New Zealand. The two volumes of Malaspina's journal included in this set are the first comprehensive edition published.
