Trotter (1872-1939) was respected and neurosurgeon who published in the fields of philosophy, psychiatry, and social psychology. Ernest Jones, Freud’s official biographer, wrote that Trotter “...was one of the first two or three in England to appreciate the significance of Freud's work."
