Boards edgeworn, cloth on back board mottled; internals sound and clean, with ownership information on front free endpaper and one page of H[arrison].J. Dring (191-1989), a former sailor and "walking encyclopedia of the sea" who became "an important figure in maritime preservation, eventually becoming responsible for the fleet of historic ships in the world at the National Maritime Museum in San Francisco" (OAC).
