Hardcover. Very good. 7.5" x 5", 327 pp, illustrated. Bound in original green cloth illustrated in brown, with gilt lettering. Upper corners bumped, paper over front hinge partially cracked (but hinge sound), small bookseller label (Calvert Co., Seattle) on front pastedown. Binding tight, text clean. The author, a pastor, made a "systematic investigation of the conditions of life amonf the worthy Boston poor" -- defining "worthy" as those willing to work for a living -- and makes a plea for more just working and living conditions.
