First Edition. 8" x 5", 335 pp, bound in orange cloth; no dust jacket. Light dust soiling to edges, small nicks in cloth at top edge of front board and front joint; very good. A uncommon and rather quicky juvenile novel set (as described in the preface) in "the Sierra Mountains, in California, from the west slope near Tollhouse, up and across the Range, to Mt. Humphreys, and south to Taboose Pass." Includes a 15-page section with methods and recipes for cooking over an open fire. The author was the wife of geographer and explorer Robert Lemoyne Barrett and was herself very well traveled.
