Slight rubbing to boards, else a fine copy, inscribed on the half title page in the year of publication "to Ray and Ida -- longtime friends -- Sincerely yours, J.H. Russell. Laid in is a 1.5-page handwritten letter from Russell to Ray on Russell Bros. letterhead about constructing a top for a Ford pick-up truck. Russell was a rancher in Ventura County, California. His father, Andrew D. Russell purchased the Triunfo Ranch -- part of the Rancho El Conejo land grant -- in 1881. This book contains interesting reminscences on various subjects relating to ranching and southern California history.
