Holcomb Safety Garments Catalog, 1935
Chicago: Holcomb Safety Garment Co., 1935.
Softcover. Very good. 9" x 6, 32 pp, with numerous illustrations from photographs. Stapled wrappers. Very good. A most interesting catalogue showcasing the latest (as of 1935) in personal protective equipment for industrial workers -- much of it made from asbestos. The introductory text tells us that "the loss of a finger, a hand, a toe, an arm, and eye, or even the temporary incapacity of any of those members is a loss to industry [no mention of the loss to the worker!] and is waste. Waste of human capabilities, or of time, or of money, in industry is inefficiency, and contrary to the motif of modern industrial civilization." .
